There were nearly 28,000 tech Meetups scheduled in January. Twenty eight THOUSAND! In one month! You guys rock.
I had a brief, gleefully manic moment thinking about digging through all those, but I was already pretty set on sharing a particular Meetup with you guys... Well, actually, over two hundred of them.
If you're in the tech industry, you are most likely familiar with Codecademy, a fun way to learn how to code. And, as anyone reading this blog knows, learning is always better when you can study alongside other people.
So, the Codecademy Team declared the first ever Code Year Meetup Day, and over a thousand aspiring hackers signed up in hundreds of cities across the globe, hoping to connect and learn with other folks. Code Year Meetup Groups like this one have started springing up as well.
Many tech Meetups, like Codecademy's, are perfect examples of learning in the 21st century. By empowering people to help each other, they can engage and support themselves in a way no centralized institution could.
We want to hear more from you about this type of group-learning within the tech community. What Meetup format is best for members to share skills & teach each other? Tell us via this Facebook post or by using the #TechMeetup hashtag on Twitter. We'll feature our fave reply, and maybe even add it to our all-star Tech Tips resource!
